Step 2: Matrix Layout

Method 1

Directly change the parameters of horizontal and vertical spacing. It is highly customizable, allowing you to set the value of image spacing as you want.

?filename=Crop_Pictures_-_8.gif

Tips

When setting the horizontal and vertical spacing, the length and width of the shape are 100 by default.

?filename=Crop_Pictures_-_9.jpg
Horizontal spacing

It is the spacing between the "upper left corner" of the first shape and the "upper left corner" of the second shape. When the spacing is 100, the distance between the two shapes is 0.

?filename=Crop_Pictures_-_10.jpg

Vertical spacing

It is the spacing between the "top" of the first shape and the "top" of the second shape. When the spacing is 100, the distance between the two shapes is 0.

Method 2

Select “% of shape” in the drop-down menu of “Space Unit” in Matrix Layout, and then get 100% edge fitting with a snap.

Example 3: Matrix Layout + Deviation Angle

The background pattern used in the example is from the Transparent Textures, a seamless background texture website. You can click [Ultra Practical Editable Variety Textured Website Transparent Textures].

Note

The pictures filled in the rotated shapes will also be rotated. This is not the effect we want.

We need to turn the rotated shapes back

Insert a shape on the bottom layer to “split” with the target shape

Tips
  • You cannot apply Boolean to the combined shapes. You need to ungroup it before you apply [split].

  • When apply [Boolean], you can click what you want to reserve it.
